This lotion works not just as skin softener but as germ buster as well. Glyceryl laurate and glycerin provide moisture while lemon and PCMX sanitize the skin.

Procedure:

Mix ingredients of phases A and B in separate bowls. Heat separately both mixtures to 70°C or until waxes in phase B melt. Add phase B into A and mix thoroughly. Cool batch to 45°C. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Adjust pH level to 6.0 with lactic acid. When mixture is smooth, pour it into sterilized plastic tubes.

Germaben II is a liquid antimicrobial ready-to-use preservative composed of diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, and propylene glycol. It protects products from gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and molds. Aloe vera and dl-panthenol nourish the skin and provide nutrients.

Procedure:

Combine all ingredients of phase A with a mixer and heat to 55°C. Then cool mixture to 40°C. Add all ingredients of phase B to that of A. Mix well until homogenous. Add triethanolamine and beat with a sweep mixer until smooth. Pour into sterilized plastic lubes.

Luscious Bubble Bars from Voyageur

Take your bathing experience a notch higher with these exquisite bubble bars! With the smell and look  of these delectable bars, you would almost think of them as bonbons. Crumble a small part of these delights and place under running water to spread their fragrance and create those bubbles on your tub. That is, if you can restrain yourself from taking a bite!

Ingredients:                                          Weight:

Sodium bicarbonate (baking powder)        1 cup

Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate                      1 cup

Cream of tartar                                   1/3 cup

Cocoamidopropyl betaine                      7 tbsp.

Vegetable glycerin                               3 tbsp.

Fragrance/essential oil                          1 tsp.

Labcolors™, preferred (liquid)                   q.s.

Note: Before starting, wear a face mask and hand gloves to protect oneself against sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. Project should also be done in a well-ventilated area as the chemical is a respiratory irritant.

Combine gently all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Sift until no lumps are left. Add fragrance oil and carefully mix again. Try to avoid over-agitation as the dry ingredients are very light and waft easily. Gradually add the liquid ingredients while kneading the mixture; it will take the consistency of dough after a few minutes. Add color when mass begins to hold together in your hand. Pastel hues are preferred. Mix color thoroughly until incorporated in the dough, and no white spots are seen. Work as quickly as possible because dough tends to be crumbly as it dries. Add glycerin or cocoamidopropyl betaine if dough needs to be moistened. Set aside.

To create a multicolored effect, you can either layer two dough of different hues into a loaf pan, or combine them into a single mass for a streaked or marbled look. Try also rolling two or more dough for a jellyroll effect. Powder the molds/loaf pans to be used. Press the combined masses firmly into the mold/pan to hold them as they dry. Leave bars for an hour or more before removing. Place them on a lined cookie sheet to cure for a week or two. Once the bars have hardened, place in an airtight container to store.
